Awe and wonder lead to curiosity. Curiosity leads to student centered learning. Student centered learning leads to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world around us.
Learning does not and should not only take place within the walls of school buildings. In fact, deeper, more immersive learning takes place out in the world around us. Students with their hands in the soil, feeling the textures found under various vegetation, comparing the difference for themselves, will be much more likely to recall their discoveries.
Learning also does not stop when we leave those school buildings but most often the wonder and joy of discovery is left behind as we move forward in life and get bogged down by the daily grind. It is also important for us to continue being intentional about learning as we grow older to help exercise our minds. Let's bring awe and wonder to learners of all ages.
